#1: Rush on One-Step, a $28 Blue Note, and JD Twitch's crates go back into the world

Friday, October 16, 2026 · 10 picks · 5-minute read

Upcoming Vinyl lists 413 vinyl releases for the week of Oct 12–18, and that's before you count everything coming out in Europe and Japan. Here are the 10 we'd actually spend money on, from all-analog reissues to brand-new albums, with what we could confirm about how each one was mastered and pressed. When a label hasn't published the details, we say so instead of guessing. Plus: a new turntable, a story from London's DJ world, and a record shop spotlight from Berlin.

Draft: scheduled for Friday, October 16, 2026. Facts researched Oct 14, 2026; prices and stock change fast.

A Farewell to Kings

Mobile Fidelity UltraDisc One-Step 180g 45RPM 2LP box set (MFSL45UD1S2-069)
Out Oct 16, 2026Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab$125Premium pick

Upcoming Vinyl lists it for Oct 16. MoFi first announced this wave for summer 2026, and eCoustics has already reviewed it, so some sellers may have shipped early. When we checked on Oct 14, MoFi's own listing showed it out of stock with a back-in-stock alert, and Music Direct still listed it. If you want one, don't wait.

Pressing details (sourced)Mastered by Krieg Wunderlich at MoFi from the 1/4-inch 15 IPS Dolby A analog tape, pressed at Fidelity Record Pressing, limited to 5,000 numbered copies. The chain is tape → DSD256 → analog console → lathe, so it is not all-analog (AAA). The 45RPM split gives "Xanadu" its own side.

Worth-it watch

The Who, Who's Next (UHQR)

Analogue Productions' 200g UHQR of Who's Next came out Aug 26, 2026, limited to 7,500. AnalogPlanet confirmed with the label that it comes from the original analog tapes with Chris Bellman's mastering and is pressed at QRP on Clarity Vinyl. One thing to know: it isn't a brand-new 2026 lacquer cut. It's built on the 2005 Classic Records edition, using original metal parts Analogue Productions bought with Classic's archive. If you own the Classic Records pressing, read the review before you double-dip.

JD Twitch's record collection goes back into the world at London's World of Echo

The late Keith McIvor, aka JD Twitch, co-founder of Optimo (Espacio), died in September 2025. His family is selling his collection, an estimated 7,000 to 8,000 records, in-store only at World of Echo in Bethnal Green, London, from Saturday, Nov 14 to Thursday, Nov 19. A second part will be announced for 2027. "Keith believed records are ultimately there to be played," his widow Marissa Costello said. Memorial fanzines will be available with a donation to the new Keith McIvor Glioblastoma Research Fund.

Questions about this issue

What does 'pressing details not yet confirmed' mean?

The label or a trusted reviewer hasn't published the mastering engineer, the source (analog tape vs. digital), or the pressing plant yet. We only give a pressing note when one of those is on the record, and we link to the source.

Is the Rush MoFi One-Step all-analog?

No. MoFi lists the chain as 1/4-inch 15 IPS Dolby A analog tape → DSD256 → analog console → lathe. It's mastered by Krieg Wunderlich and pressed at Fidelity Record Pressing.

Which release this week has the best pressing for the money?

Jackie McLean's Swing, Swang, Swingin' (Blue Note Classic Vinyl Series): all-analog, mastered by Kevin Gray from the original tapes, pressed at Optimal, $27.98 at Blue Note's store.

Do you only recommend all-analog pressings?

No. This week's list mixes all-analog cuts (Blue Note Classic, Costello), a tape-to-DSD One-Step (Rush) and new albums whose mastering hasn't been published yet. We note what's known so you can pick the edition that suits you.
